Blackpool in Pride Month: Rainbows, Drag Queens & Freedom
June is for long days, fresh sea air, and a whole lot of love…because it’s Pride Month! And Blackpool is ready to celebrate in full colour. From glittering drag shows to rainbow-lit piers, this seaside town turns up the volume and the love all month long.
What to expect?
It’s loud, proud, and has a heart bigger than Blackpool’s famous tower. Blackpool’s always been a haven for the bold and the brilliant, drag performers, dreamers, artists, and party people. Come June, the town goes full-colour. You’ll find community-run events, iconic bars flying their rainbow flags, and locals who know how to throw a good celebration.
Things to Do in Blackpool During Pride Month
1. Join the Blackpool Pride Festival
Held in early June (6th-8th), the Pride Festival brings live music, parades, drag royalty, and local LGBTQ+ talent to the streets and stages. Most of the fun happens near the Winter Gardens and Queen Street.
2. Catch a Drag Show at Funny Girls
If you’re doing Blackpool right, you’re ending your night at Funny Girls! The town’s legendary drag cabaret show. Expect sequins, sass, and a whole lot of sparkle. It’s an experience, not just a night out. ✨
3. Dance the Night Away at Local LGBTQ+ Bars
The scene here is full of character and kindness. Try:
-
Flying Handbag – a crowd favourite with a welcoming atmosphere
-
Kaos Bar – themed nights, big laughs
-
Peek-A-Booze – part bar, part hotel, all fabulous
4. Snap a Pic Under the Rainbow Lights
During June, Blackpool Tower and North Pier light up in Pride colours. They’re perfect sunset backdrops, so grab your mates, your partner, or your dog, and take a memory home.
5. Soak Up the Seaside
You don’t need a schedule to feel the magic. Grab some chips, dip your toes in the sea, and let the music from the arcades and the smell of cotton candy wrap around you. This is what freedom feels like.
