Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club
Overview
If you’re even slightly into golf or just love a place dripping in tradition, Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club is a must. Surrounded by history and 174 perfectly placed bunkers (yes, we counted), the course has quite a reputation. It’s a true championship links course that’s hosted everything from The Open to the Ryder Cup, and you feel that legacy in every step. The setting’s unexpected too.. tucked just inland, surrounded by houses and the train line, which only adds to the charm. It’s not about sea views here; it’s about pure, strategic golf.
When to visit
The course opens daily from 8 am, but if you’re visiting, avoid Wednesdays and Saturdays, those are members-only. We went midweek and it was perfect: quiet, smooth pace, and staff who genuinely seem proud to share the space.
Where it is
It’s just a few minutes’ drive from central Lytham St Annes. You won’t miss the red-brick clubhouse, it’s like something out of a storybook, standing proudly since 1911.
