A Dog’s Guide to St Anne’s

The most pawfect way to spend your weekend.

 

Hello, fellow four-legged traveller.

So, your human has booked a little getaway to St Annes.

Good.

You’ve packed your favourite toy, they’ve packed seventeen outfits, and now it’s time to show them how to do St Annes properly.

Because while they might be coming for the sea air and a change of scenery, you’re coming for the smells.

Here are the places worth putting on your itinerary.

 

01: St Anne’s Beach

The obvious one. But we’re starting here anyway.

There is sand.

There is sea.

There are seagulls.

There are approximately 800 things that require immediate investigation.

Take your human for a walk along the coast and let them enjoy the view while you perform very important duties: sniffing lamp posts, finding sticks and attempting to chase birds that are significantly faster than you.

P.S. Just make sure your human checks for any dog restrictions.

 

02: Fairhaven Lake

You’ve done the beach.

Now take them to Fairhaven Lake.

It’s the perfect place for a proper wander around the water, with plenty of grass, greenery and new smells to add to your mental database.

And if your human starts complaining that their legs hurt?

Good.

You’ve successfully worn them out.

Bonus: Fairhaven Lake Café

This is where things get interesting.

Your human gets coffee.

You sit patiently.

You stare.

They say “No”.

You stare harder.

They eventually give you a tiny piece.

Another successful negotiation.

The café has a designated dog-friendly area, so it’s a particularly handy stop after your lake walk. Or even better take a trip to the Fairhaven pub!

 

 

03: Ashton Gardens

Sometimes you need to remind everyone that you’re not just a beach dog.

You’re cultured.

You’re sophisticated.

And most importantly you’re an expert in the gardens.

So, take a leisurely stroll through Ashton Gardens, have a sniff around and let your human take approximately another 46 photos of you sitting next to something vaguely floral.

Do one good pose.

They’ll stop.

Probably.

Best for: a slower stroll, people watching and looking expensive.

 

04: The Promenade

When you’ve done with the serious walking, take your human along the promenade.

The prime people watching territory, and a little time for promenade patrol.

They’ll be runners, cyclists, other dogs and plenty of edible looking objects flying by. Stay alert.

And if you see another dog?

Obviously, you have to say hello.

Its rude not to.

 

05: Find yourself a dog friendly dog café

You’ve earned it.

St Annes has plenty of cafes and places to eat, but here’s your golden rule:

Never assume you’re allowed in.

But why not try Fresh Café, Bijou of Lytham, Queens hotel… and more.

Your human can tuck in.

You can sit underneath the table and wait for gravity to do its thing.

Something always falls.

 

06: Return to Hy

It’s nap time. The most important step of the day.

After approximately 17,000 steps, you’ve earned the right to collapse dramatically.

Head back to Hy, put your paws up and snuggle up for the evening.

Your human might suggest going back out.

Look at them.

Then look at your bed.

They’ll understand.

 

07: One final piece of advice…

Don’t let your human call this their weekend away.

You planned the itinerary.

You chose the walks.

You approved the café.

And frankly, you’re the reason they’re getting out of bed before 10 am.

So, bring the lead, grab the treats and head to the coast.

St Annes is waiting.
