Hy’s Take – Sea Life Blackpool

By the end of our day using the pick ’n’ mix pass, we could tell Woody (3 years old) was starting to run out of steam. Miranda (Woody’s mum) and I (Esther from the Hy Team) had saved the best for last, planning the final activity around what we knew Woody would love most. As we walked down the street, we bent down and asked him, “Are you ready to see the fish?” His eyes lit up, and he immediately started bouncing with excitement.

We started our Sea Life adventure at the rock pool, which led into a winding walkway full of different tanks. The further we went, the bigger the tanks (and fish) got. About halfway through, we learned that Blackpool Sea Life is actually a sanctuary for the rare and endangered Undulate ray—a species you can now only find off the southern coasts of England and Ireland. Pretty cool, right?

The staff were fantastic and made the experience even better. Several times, they noticed Woody pointing at a specific sea creature and would come over to explain its habitat, history, and origin in a way he could totally get. We were really impressed with how knowledgeable and engaging the team was—they made the whole visit feel more personal and memorable.

All in all, we had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend checking it out. Whether you grab a single ticket or make it part of your pick ’n’ mix day, Sea Life is definitely worth a visit!
