Fairhaven Lake
Fairhaven Lake offers a beautiful walk, with plenty of activities surrounding it. Fairhaven Lake is situated between Lytham and St Annes, which both have an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. There are great travel links between both towns, with taxis, buses and trains operating regularly. For those wanting to enjoy the outdoors, the walk from Hy is not very long and there’s attractions along the way to keep it exciting.
The lake is open for walks all year round, but it’s worth checking out whether other amenities are open when you visit. Most are available on weekends and throughout the school holidays. If you’ve decided that the walk from Hy Hotel to Fairhaven Lake is a bit long, you can also find a large parking area to the side of the lake and there is also on street parking available.
Water sports in Lytham St Annes
This salt water lake has plenty of fun water sports activities available, including the use of motorboats, rowing boats, pedalos, windsurfing, dinghies and canoes. Each activity is reasonably priced and available for a specific amount of time so that you can make your way around the lake. After you’ve finished and it’s time to relax, you can head over to the Fairhaven Lake café for a nice warm drink and a bite to eat.
Fairhaven Lake Café
The Fairhaven Lake café has recently undergone a refurbishment which has been popular among the locals in the area. The Fairhaven Lake café offers a wide range of food and drinks so you can definitely feed the family without having to travel away from the lake. The café is open 6 days a week (closed on Mondays) and is situated just next to the large lake. Take a trip into the café and experience stunning views over the lake and beyond.
Wonderful wildlife
At Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Annes, you have the ability to walk the whole way around the lake with views of the stunning beach. If you’re quiet enough on your walk around the lake, you’ll be amazed at the wildlife and birds. Located at the side of the lake is an informative RSPB visitor centre where you can learn some surprising facts.
Adventure and Crazy Golf at Fairhaven Lake
Along with the renovation of the café, there has also been the addition of an Adventure Golf area, perfect if you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge than the St Annes crazy golf can offer you. The Adventure Golf is located just outside of the lake area and has some incredible features such as a mini version of Lytham Hall and the Lytham Windmill. It’s fun for everyone and on a warm day you can dash around the corner for a yummy ice cream.
Fairhaven Lake Park
If you’ve come to Lytham St Annes with little ones, it can be hard to find activities to keep them entertained throughout the day. The Fairhaven Lake park has plenty of activities for a range of ages. It is located just next to the cafe’s outside seating area, so you can have a warm drink whilst the little ones enjoy the park.
Sporting activities St Annes
As well as ensuring there’s enough for younger families to enjoy together, Fairhaven Lake also caters for couples and older families by having tennis courts onsite. These well maintained courts are available to book for a small fee. It’s a perfect activity if you’re wanting to enjoy some exercise outside and have fun. Or maybe you’d prefer to do something a bit more laidback, in which case you can head over to the bowling area that’s also available on site. Taking part in some bowls is sure to give you some much needed peace and quiet during your stay.
